Workshop
The right to vote, freedom of speech, separation of powers: what exactly does that mean and how are we supposed to deal with it? "Democracy" was the theme of a workshop particularly aimed at students, a mutual event by KAS Egypt and the Democracy and Human Rights Program (DHRP). Civil Rights in Egypt

The lack of participation in the past Shura elections proved once more: Egyptians are fed up with politics. One of the main reasons for their political disenchantment can be found in the lack of transparency in electoral procedures. The non-constraining right to obtain a passport and the possibility to command it unconfinedly is far from being an implicitness in many Arab countries. In rural Upper Egypt, in particular, legally granted freedom of travel for women has long been a hushed up concern. Workshop
From June 19-22, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung's Expert Advisory Group (EAG) met in Berlin in order to discuss the energy policy in the Euromed area. During the visit, the EAG held discussions with both Dr Hans-Gert Pöttering, the chairperson of KAS, and representatives of the chancellery and the energy sector.
