Ranking SAIIA- best think-tank in Sub-Saharan Africa The South African Institute of International Affairs "SAIIA", a longterm partner of KAS South Africa, was recently voted best think-tank in Sub-Saharan Africa. The 2009 Survey "Global Go-To Think Tank“ conducted by the University of Pennsylvania, USA included 392 organisations (out of a pool of 6000) around the globe. The survey ranked the selected organisations in terms of their ability to bridge the gap between political descision making and practical research on grass-root level. (Feb. 5, 2010)

Mit der Fußball-WM wächst am Kap die Hoffnung Nur noch sechs Monate sind es bis zur WM in Südafrika. Je näher das Mega-Sportereignis rückt, desto größer wird die Vorfreude aber auch die mit der WM verbundenen Erwartungen bei den Südafrikanern. In zwei Artikeln, die am 21. New KAS Publication A long walk to democracy: 20 years after the Fall of the Berlin Wall The opening of the Berlin Wall at 9 November 1989 was the result, but also the cause of profound changes in Germany and Europe as well as in the international system. In this new KAS publication, authors from Germany analyze the consequences of this event for Germany, Europe and the international system. In a second part, authors from different countries describe and evaluate the perception and consequences of the fall of the Berlin Wall from an “outsider’s view”. (Nov. 10, 2009) »

Veranstaltungsbericht 267 Tage vor dem Anpfiff Knapp ein Jahr nach der Vorstellung des „Host City Cape Town Green Goal Action Plan“ hat die KAS gemeinsam mit der Stadt- sowie der Provinzregierung in Kapstadt eine erste Zwischenbilanz über die Umsetzung der 41 darin enthaltenen Einzelprojekte gezogen. Ziel des Aktionsplans ist es, die Weltmeisterschaft 2010 in Südafrika zu einem nachhaltigen und umweltfreundlichen Event zu machen. KAS/SAIIA Internship Programme Call for Applications Since 1999, KAS has funded an internship programme, run by SAIIA in conjunction with the University of the Witwatersrand. The internship programme provides successful candidates with the opportunity to enroll for a masters degree by course work in IR, Political Science, Economics, Law or Journalism, while simultaneously working at SAIIA.
