25 neophyte legislators of the 15th Congress have been provided an opportunity to dialogue on their new role and tasks on August 12 – 13 at the Summit Ridge Hotel, Tagaytay City with Sabine Weiss MdB, Member of the German Bundestag, and former Senator Aquilino Pimentel, Jr. among others. This dialogue entitled Strengthening the Legislative Body: A Dialogue for Newly Elected Members of the House of Representatives was organized by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the Ateneo School of Government. Kusog Mindanaw, a socio-political and multi-sectoral formation with its roots as far as back as 1994, held its annual roundtable conference discussing the 20 year peace and development agenda for Mindanao (Mindanao 2020). To support the implementation and monitoring of transnational replication of local governance best practices (BP), a group of 13 National Coordinators and local governance experts with DELGOSEA conducted a two-day meeting in Manila, Philippines on August 3-4, 2010, to discuss the outline and structure of best practices replication training material. The three-day workshop brought together 27 representatives of the core groups of young professionals who participated in the six forum-workshops previously conducted in the different provinces of Mindanao, Visayas and Luzon. The main objectives of the workshop are to establish the unities of the different core groups and define the rules that will guide the establishment of the CDM as a nationwide organization. (1. The Institute for Autonomy and Governance (IAG), with support from the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, and the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) conducted a leadership training workshop for Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) top officials from July 12th to 15th. During the three day workshop from 10th-12th June 2010, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, the EC co-funded project “Partnership for Democratic Local Governance in Southeast-Asia” (DELGOSEA), presented the outcomes of the research assessment on best practice examples from local governments/municipalities from five countries in Southeast-Asia.
