Master's Program
From September 2009, Deutsche Welle, Germany's international broadcaster is offering the Master's Program "International Media Studies". The bilingual full/time program for further education combines topics like media and development, journalism, communication science and media economics, whilst developing skills and competencies that are important for the world of the media. The Center for International Law, the Southeast Asian Press Alliance (SEAPA) and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) are organizing the 2nd South East Asia Media Defense Litigation Conference.
The conference is designed to allow lawyers and media practitioners from South East Asia to share their experiences on legal threats to freedom of speech and of the press and to formulate new legal strategies responsive to the current situations in their respective countries. (Oct. 21, 2009) »

Asia Journalism Fellowship 2010
Accomplished journalists from across the region are being invited to spend three months in Singapore under the Asia Journalism Fellowship programme at Nanyang Technological University's Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information. Google bringt traditionelle Geschäftsmodelle ins Wanken. Den asiatischen Presselandschaften scheint die globale Wirtschaftskrise hingegen nichts anhaben zu können. The South Korean capital Seoul will be the venue for this years’ “Asian-European Editors’ Forum”. The international conference is hosted by the Media Programme Asia of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) in cooperation with the Asia News Network (ANN). The annual meeting has been established as a platform for discussions amongst Asian and European media executives, renowned academics and politicians. The World Press Photo Exhibition, the annual exhibit of the world’s best news and features photography will be shown again in Metro Manila when the Konrad Adenauer Asian Center for Journalism at the Ateneo de Manila University (ACFJ) hosts it from August 1 to 23. The annual exhibit shows the winning photos in the annual World Press Contest, the international competition for news and features photography run by the World Press Photo since 1952. With the first of three online photojournalism training courses that kicks off on Monday, July 20, the ACFJ journeys beyond Asia and onto Africa. The courses form part of the media training programme called Twenty Ten, a project of the World Press Photo seeking to prepare African journalists for the coverage of the 2010 World Cup at Johannesburg, South Africa, next year. The visit from the 22nd to the 28th September, 2009 in Berlin is directed to 10 journalists from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam. With the visit program a detailed insight into the German media system should be offered to the participants. Each of them has finished a sound journalistic education at the Konrad Adenauer Asian Centre for Journalism (ACfJ) and is now active as a political reporter for press and broadcast. (July 17, 2009) »
