IIPS and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung jointly release a publication “Single European Currency – the Realization of the Economic and Monetary Union in the EU“. The Author of the publication is Zdeněk Sychra, an assistant professor at the Desk of International Relations, Faculty of Social Sciences at the Masaryk University. The concept of the economic and monetary union is being looked at predominantly from a political perspective. The EMU is understood as an inseparable part of the process of the European integration and is being put in the context of the general functioning of the EU. »

IIPS and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung jointly release a publication “Czech Political Parties and the European Integration. Europeanization, Europeanism, Euroscepticism?”. The author of the book, Vlastimil Havlík, works as an assistant professor at the Desk of Political Science of the Faculty of Social Sciences and as an researcher at the Institute for Comparative Political Science Research of the Masaryk University. The publication elaborates on the way in which the European integration is reflected in chosen aspects of the relevant political parties in the Czech Republic. »

IIPS and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung jointly release a publication “Legitimacy of power in postmodernism. Why does the EU need member-states?” The author, Vojtech Belling, studied International Territorial Studies in Prague and Cologne and worked as a lecturer at the University of Public Administration and International Relations and at the university in Heidelberg, where he currently finishes his dissertation. The publication considers various weaknesses of the current state of democratic decision-making and does not omit to elaborate also on the democratic deficit. »

In cooperation with the czech bishop’s conference
In cooperation with the KAS and the Czech Bishop’s Conference, the czech journal „Budoucnot církve“ releases an extensive collection of speeches and messages of Pope Benedikt XVI. The publication contains basic positions of the pope with regards to the importance of the youth for the church and thus preserves the tradition of pope John Paul II. The collection broadens the potential source for academic research on the one hand, on the other it serves as a conservation of the current position of the catholic church towards the youth and its function for christianity. »

IIPS in cooperation with the KAS release a publication “Human Rights in the European Union”. The author of the book, Hubert Smekal, is an assistant professor at the Desk of International Relations and European Studies and a scientific worker at the International Institute of Political Science, where he co-founded the Center for Human Rights and Democratization. The publication analyzes in detail the topic of human rights in the EU, beginning with the European integration and the study of human rights as such, ending with the specificities of the approach towards the human rights in the EU. »

IIPS in cooperation with the KAS, Cevro Institute and Pant publish a selection of essays with the title “Twenty years of freedom – why the democracy is not for free”. A group of Czech high school students, which took part in the final of this competition, expresses itself about the Velvet revolution, transformation and their individual perception of freedom. This collection contributes to the understanding of the opinions of the young generation, which knows communism mainly from narration. »

Občanský institut and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung jointly publish the volume „Four considerations on Europe“ by three german and one Czech author. Josef Isensee, a professor for public law at the Bonn University, Udo di Fabio, a judge of the German Constitutional Court, Hans-Jürgen Papier, the chairman of the Constitutional Court and Karel Schwarzenberg, senator of the Czech parliament and chairman of the party TOP 09 consider various topics of the EU, such as the Lisabon Treaty and European values. »
