Afghanistan wählt am 20. August 2009 zum zweiten Mal seit der Vertreibung der Taliban einen Staatspräsidenten. Das Ergebnis der Wählerregistrierung, die am 18. Februar 2009 abgeschlossen wurde, stimmte viele Beobachter optimistisch: Mit rund 17 Millionen registrierten Wählern wurden die Erwartungen übertroffen. »

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Kabul office will be publishing a hand-book for the Afghan Parliamentary elections in 2010, to be used as a reference guide by the potential candidates. For this reason, the KAS invited representatives of the Afghan civil society, media, political parties and members of the Afghan Parliament to the three workshops on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of April 2009, for consultations and to ask for the opinions and recommendations of the invited guests for the elections hand-book. »

Counselling Workshops for Selecting the Research Topics at NCPR in 2009
The NCPR had held several workshops for selecting its Research Topics in 2009. Each department of NCPR had organized and prepared 15very vital topics to be evaluated by the participants and they had to vote for the most important ones. More than 71 participants, Experts of Economics, Social Sciences and Law & Political Sciences from Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations, Professors of Kabul University and professionals from the Academy of Sciences of Afghanistan attended. »

When the Taliban destroyed the Buddha statue in Bamyan in March 2001, the enormous dimension of their strategy of cultural destruction became visible. The project “Discovering Democracy – Young Kabul Art 2007” supported not only the reconstruction process of the first working circles of young Afghan artists also the thoughtfulness of the participants was focused on democracy because democracy cannot only be described as the state of the art, also it can be stated artistically. »
