Leaders for justice

Project management for legal professionals

The 5th session of the 8th Leaders for Justice generation took place between the 18th - 21th of May. The participants learned about project management and then applied the acquired knowledge to their own project. They later talked to Radu Burnete (The Foreign Investors Council) about the effects of the legislation on the economy and to Elena Calistru (Funky Citizens president) about being civically fit and sustainable designing, implementing and financing civic projects.

5th Eurosfat Forum held in Bucharest on April 28

EUROSFAT is the anual forum for European debate organised in Romania which aims to bring together politicians, representatives of civil society and businesses, experts and citizens to debate the most important topics on the European agenda. Open discussion with the president of the Bucharest Tribunal

The third training session of the Leaders for Justice 2017 program (8th edition) took place between 23 and 26 March in Sinaia and focused on topics such as decision-making, change management, real leadership or planning the first steps of a common project. One of the modules was dedicated to an open discussion with Laura Andrei, the president of the Bucharest Tribunal. The dialogue concentrated on managing a court, finding balance between judicial and administrative tasks or making decisions. more…

10th edition of the International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival One World Romania

The official opening of the 10th edition of the International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival One World Romania took place in Bucharest on Monday, March 13. During the week of the festival, over 60 new documentaries, 100 film screenings and 10 accompanying events will take place in the 4 cinemas (Union, Eforie, Elvire Popesco and MTR) and other alternative locations downtown of Bucharest. Second training session of the Leaders for Justice 2017 program

The second training session of the leadership program for Romanian junior jurists took place between 23rd and 26th of February in Sibiel, Sibiu county. Team-leading and working as a team were the two main subjects tackled during the four days, together with trainers Mihai Dragoi and Marian Stas. On the International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9, the RLP SEE organized in Bucharest the conference "How to fight corruption?", where the fresh alumni of the 7 generation of "Leaders for Justice" presented their group project: The Timis Anti-Corruption Academy. At the event, several speeches were held by Thorsten Geissler (RLP SEE), Werner H. Lauk (German Ambassador in Romania), Prof. Valeriu Stoica (former Minister for Justice), Paul Dumitru (DNA) und Cornel Călinescu (ANABI). more…

Regional conference

Prevention of and fight against corruption in the judiciary of south-east European countries

On Nov. 1-2, the RLP SEE organized in Bucharest a regional conference entitled “Corruption in the judiciary of south-east European countries”. At the initiative of the Romanian Anticorruption Directorate (DNA), more than 50 representatives of anti-corruption agencies, judicial councils, high courts, prosecutor offices and justice ministries from Albania, BiH, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Macedonia, Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia exchanged views and experience in this field.

Discussion with Romanian Minister of Justice

On the 4th of October, the alumni of Leaders for Justice had the opportunity to discuss current problems in Romanian judiciary with Justice Minister Raluca Pruna. During the meeting, topics like the financing of the judicial system, a new structure of instances and an increase in personnel as well as the necessity of the EU Cooperation and Verification Mechanism were covered. Furthermore, it was discussed which margin remains for Pruna until the end of her mandate with parliamentary elections.

Introduction to asylum and migration law, training for young lawyers and students

On September 30-October 1, the KAS RLP SEE organized in Macedonia a seminar for 20 young jurists, lawyers and students, on the correct application of the asylum and migration law. The agenda drawn up by our project partner MYLA (Macedonian Young Lawyers Association) focused not only on the relevant national and international legislation, but also on the approval process of an asylum application at the Ministry of Interior and the consequences of such approval or rejection.
