Protection against discrimination in Bulgaria

On the 30th of September the final conference of a common project of the Rule of Law Program South East Europe of KAS and of the NGO Bulgarian Lawyers for Human Rights on the topic of the decision practices of the Bulgarian Commission for the Protection against Discrimination. In his speech, Thorsten Geissler, director of the RLP SEE, underscored progress made so far and encouraged the Bulgarian side to continue the reform process in the field.

Supporting the administration of parliament – promotion of the special service of the Serbian National Assembly

The RLP SEE organized in cooperation with the Serbian National Assembly a conference that goal it was to support the efficiency of the Serbian National Assembly, especially the structure of creating national laws and the adaption to EU law. Therefore experts of European Law participated.

50th Anniversary of the Constitutional Judiciary in the Republic of Macedonia

The RLP SEE was joint organiser of the 50th Anniversary of the Constitutional Judiciary in the Republic of Macedonia. Elena Gosheva, President of the Constitutional Court of Macedonia, Gjorge Ivanov, President of Macedonia, Dean Spielmann, President of the European Court for Human Rights participated as well as international constitutional judges. more…

Increasing the safety of probation counsellors

The KAS RLPSEE in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice organized two training session for probation counsellors from the 10th to the 19th of September in Bucharest. The participants improved their skills for situations of risk and conflict of interests. During that session participants from Croatia, Romania and the Republic of Moldova were informed about how to de escalate difficult situations. more…

Open Justice 2.0 for Romania

The Project of Funky Citizens, which was presented during a conference on 17th September 2014 organized in cooperation with the RSP SOE, supports the reforms in Romania. Its goal is to reinforce transparency and efficiency of the judiciary and informing citizens about decisions and judgments. It is even possible to compare the effectiveness of different courts. The host, the head of the EU commission in Romania Angela Filote informed about the situation of Justice in Romania. more…

Leaders for Justice 2015 Call for Applications is now open!

The Rule of Law Program South East Europe of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung announces the beginning of the third edition of the Leadership Program for Romanian Junior Lawyers – “Leaders for Justice” („Lideri pentru Justiţie”). International Summer School Sarajevo

Closing ceremony of the 8th International Summer School Sarajevo

On July 24 the 8th International Summer School Sarajevo ended with the ceremonial handing over of the diplomas. 28 young participants from Eastern and Western Europe, as well as the United States and New Zealand attended the event organized by the RLP SEE of KAS in cooperation with the NGO Pravnik. During nine days, they debated various issues related to transitional justice as a precondition for democracy and the rule of law in South East Europe. more…

Doris Pack holds lecture at the International Summer School

The former MEP and expert on South East Europe, Ms. Doris Pack, held a lecture at this year's International Summer School Sarajevo on the topic of “Lessons for South East Europe for the Accession to the EU". During the subsequent discussion, which was moderated by the director of the RLP SEE, Thorsten Geissler, the former European politician, who has a long-standing expertise about the region, answered numerous questions of the participants of the ISSS.

International Summer School Sarajevo

Lessons from South East Europe for Global Peace and Security

The opening ceremony of the International Summer School Sarajevo 2014 "Lessons from South East Europe for Global Peace and Security" took place on July 16 under the auspices of the representative of the BiH Presidency, Mr. Željko Komšić and the participation of the High Representative, Mr. Valentin Inzko. Until July 26, the 28 graduates in law or related fields will enlarge their knowledge through lectures, workshops and visits at relevant institutions and sites in Sarajevo and BiH. more…
