Exhibition on Life in East Germany before and after the fall of the Berlin Wall inaugurated in Kuwait

In context of the opening of the exhibition "The ideal world of dictatorship" on the Fall of the Berlin Wall at the American University in Kuwait (AUK), the Gulf Studies Center of AUK hosted a panel discussion titled "The Fall of the Berlin Wall: A Retrospective of Life in Germany Before & After 1990" on December 20th, 2010. Thomas Birringer, Regional Representative to the Gulf-States represented the KAS. He explained the effects of the Berlin Wall on people in both parts of Germany. more…

First KAS Journalists Course off to a good start

The first Journalists Academy for young Emirati journalists organized by the KAS-Regional Program Gulf-States in cooperation with the UAE National Media Council (NMC) in Abu Dhabi kicked-off successfully. Starting the academy KAS-Coach Jochen Markett and Dr. Mohamed Ayish of the NMC gave the 12 participants an introduction into journalistic writing and research. This and the following courses aim to strengthen the quality of Emirati journalism.

Experts from more than a dozen Islamic and European countries followed the invitation of the Regional Program Gulf-States of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, and gathered in Abu Dhabi for the conference „After the crisis – approaches for a value based economic policy” from October 11th – 13th, 2010. International Conference "After the crisis - approaches for value-based economic policy" start today

The international Conference "After the crisis - approaches for value-based economic policy" will start today. The opening reception in attendance of H. E. Holger Haibach MdB, Member of the German Parliament, Majority Speaker for Development Policy will be held today at 7pm at the Park Rotana, Abu Dhabi. The conference, jointly organized by KAS, the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry & Commerce (AHK)and the Abu Dhabi Council for Economic Development runs from Oct. 1th – 13th, 2010.

Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and the National Media Council sign MoU on new training program for Emirati journalists

The KAS-Regional Program Gulf-States and the National Media Council (NMC), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the cooperation for a new journalist training program in the UAE. "We are very happy to cooperate with the NMC", said Thomas Birringer, Regional Representative of KAS in Abu Dhabi. "Journalists are an important and integral part of today's information based society. With our experience KAS can make a valuable contribution and assist in forming tomorrow's news elite". more…

Pöttering speaks out for rights of Christians in Islamic societies

Christians in all Islamic countries should be given the right to practice their faith freely. During a lecture at the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) in Abu Dhabi on September 20th, 2010 the Chairman of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and former President of the European Parliament, Dr. Hans-Gert Pöttering, MEP, called for equal treatment of Christians and Muslims alike in their respective host-countries. more…

Positive Feedback for Ladies-Iftar

Ladies only! Around 20 ladies representing various nationalities and occupations in culture,education and business gathered last night at the home of Cultural Attachée Susanne Jokisch, German Embassy Abu Dhabi, for the traditional Islamic breaking of the fast during Ramadan. The Iftar dinner jointly organized by the German Embassy and the KAS-Regional-Program Gulf-States, gave the ladies ample opportunity for intercultural exchange and intensive network. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
