New Director Rule of Law Programme Asia
Marc Spitzkatz is the new head of the KAS Rule of Law Programme in Singapore
On August 1st 2011 the KAS Rule of Law Programme welcomed a new director. Marc Spitzkatz studied law and has been a judge for more than ten years now. He also spent four years in Beijing working in the Sino-German rule of law dialogue. Spitzkatz follows Clauspeter Hill who is now in charge of our KAS-office in Thailand.

Freedom of speech and press remain a challenge in many Asian countries: during the third conference since 2007 journalists reportet about defamation and censorship they were facing and even see on the rise in some states. The event granted the 120 participating lawyers, journalists and experts a space to exchange their often personal experiences in these matters and establish networks for further assistance to one another.
