Honorary Doctorate for Hans-Gert Pöttering

Hans-Gert Pöttering, Chairman of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and former President of the European Parliament, received the Honorary Doctorate of the Ateneo de Manila University in Manila. The "Doctor of Humanities, honoris causa" was awarded to him for his personal contribution to European integration and for his worldwide contribution to human rights. After former Chancellor Helmut Kohl, Pöttering is the second German politician to receive this Honorary Doctorate.

Networking for Rule of Law

Meeting of SAARCLAW and LAWASIA

In October, KAS Rule of Law Programme invited the boards of directors of SAARCLAW and LAWASIA legal network to Singapore. The objective was to discuss possible future cooperation. The meeting strengthened the links between experts from South Asia and the Asia-Pacific who are engaged in promoting the development of rule of law structures. The meeting took place on occasion of the 23rd LAWSIA conference and the 15th meeting of Asia’s chief justices.
