Content of the internship

The purpose of the internship is to provide the interns with an insight into the work of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the Rule of Law Programme office. The main emphasis is on constitutional and administrative law as well as international law and European law, focusing in particular on the analysis of the administrative and constitutional criteria that are to be applied to state administration and jurisdiction. The internship includes tasks such as the preparation and the organization of events or legal workshops as well as the assistance of colleagues in their daily work, especially regarding research work, meetings with partners, writing speeches, etc. The choice of subject and focus is subject to an individual agreement; we expect you to get informed in advance about the work of the Rule of Law Programme office and reflect appropriate topics in your application letter.


The internship is aimed at students who have at least completed their undergraduate studies or who are in an advanced semester in law or political science.

Since the Rule of Law Programme office works predominantly with regional partners with English as a working language, a very good knowledge of the English language is desired. Language skills in French, German and / or Arabic are of added value. Furthermore, applicants are expected to show flexibility, teamwork, responsibility and identification with the values of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.

To maximize the benefits for all involved, the internship should normally last for at least 8 weeks (preferably 12 weeks).

The Rule of Law Programme Middle East / North Africa of the KAS in Beirut does not grant any compensation for the internship; all costs of living including rent as well as transportation have to be borne by the applicants. The employees of the Rule of Law Programme assist in finding an accommodation.

Application process

The application documents should include a curriculum vitae and a detailed motivation letter for the internship, which also addresses potential work priorities. In addition, suggestions should be stated regarding the preferable dates to perform the internship.
