The idea of the internship is to get to know the work of the KAS’ Syria/Iraq office. The subjects and the focus of the internship is tailored towards each successful applicant, hence, the applicant should inform him/herself prior to applying about the work of the office and highlight topics of interest in the application. The internship can include for example preparatory work for events or seminars held all over the region. Attendance of events is only possible in Lebanon due to financial reasons.

The internship should generally be a minimum of eight weeks in order for all parties to attain maximum benefit.

The KAS office in Beirut does not grant remuneration for internships, and all occurring cost such as rent, flight tickets etc. have to be paid for by the applicant.

Application process

The application should include a CV and a detailed motivation letter, including preferred thematic focus points of the internship.

Due to the large amount of applications received, it is advised to submit an application three months before the start date of the internship. Please submit everything in one document via email to Ms Barbara Sabitzer (barbara.sabitzer@kas.de).

General Advice

For German nationals it suffices to possess a passport which is valid for at least six months when entering Lebanon to receive a visa for up to three months at the airport. Generally this visa is free of charge, this can, however, change on short notice. For further information as well as relevant security advice for Lebanon please consult the Foreign Office.

We are looking forward to receiving your applications!
