Administrative Organization of the German Bundestag
In cooperation with the administration of the German Bundestag, KAS held a seminar on the responsibilities and organisation of the Bundestag’s administration. The objective was to assist the Thai Parliament in formulating a bill on the organization of the parliamentary administration.
Official launch of European Union co-funded project “Improvement of Access to Justice for Civilians in the Deep-South Provinces of Thailand”
KAS together with Cross Cultural Foundation and Muslim Attorney Center officially launched the EU co-funded project. The remarkable participation of high-ranking officers, ministries, National Human Rights Commission, military as well as international and national organizations, indicates the political relevance of the project. It ensures stakeholder’s attention which will enable close cooperation leading to an effective implementation during the lifetime of the project and beyond.
International Migration in Thailand and Southeast Asia: Policies and Practices
International Migration is an established social phenomenon in Southeast Asia. All countries in the region are influenced to some degree although the nature and level of that impact varies greatly. Therefore, KAS and ISIS organized a seminar aiming at encouraging a coherent migration policy.
Preparing Thai Public Administration for the ASEAN-Community
Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva gave an opening speech at the conference jointly organized by KAS and OCSC. He described the progress towards the realization of the ASEAN-Community and outlined the necessity for the public administration to adjust to the new challenges trough reform.
Young Leaders and the Future of Thai Democracy
During the seminar KAS organized in cooperation with the Institute of Democratization Studies, young MPs from government and opposition parties examined the role of young generation in promoting democracy and discussed new approaches for reconciliation of the politically divided society.
Rupture - Cause and Effect
A photographic exhibition supported by KAS has been opened to public at Bangkok Art and Cultural Centre. The exhibition explores the recent political crisis that erupted in Bangkok in May 2010 from the perspective of five artists. It invites to thought and reflection.
PASTIS-Training
KAS Thailand hosted the PASTIS-Training for the KAS offices in Asia. The intensive training on the new Project management, Accounting, Control and Information System took place on 1st - 6th November 2010 at Nailert Park Hotel in Bangkok. The real-time operation of PASTIS will start in January 2011
Bringing the Best of the Private Sector to Development
KAS Thailand and the Federation of Thai Industries organized a Seminar on the contribution of the private sector to sustainable development. The discussion was based on a presentation by Mr. Oliver Wieck, Director of the International Trade and Development at the Federation of German Industries.
Security laws: Opportunities and Challenges for Conflict Resolution
Five month after the violent crackdown of the protests in Bangkok's inner city, the emergency decree still holds in parts of Thailand. Due to this fact KAS Thailand, the Institute of Security and International Studies (ISIS), and the Cross Cultural Foundation (CrCF) invited to a public forum.
Special Laws in the South: Applications and Reflections
The two-day workshop “Special Laws in the South: Applications and Reflections” organized by KAS in cooperation with Cross Cultural Foundation (CrCF) in Songkla focused on current controversies and developments regarding the security law application in the Deep-south. The event addressed challenges local civil society organizations face in practice of law and human rights protection. Conclusion derived from series of debates will be published and launched in October.
