Karel Schwarzenberg and resident representative Dr. Hubert Gehring at ÖVP discussion

On June 8th the „Continental Breakfast“, a discussion about foreign affairs, took place in Vienna. The secretary general of the Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP), Fritz Kaltenegger, had invited not only Prague’s resident representative of the KAS, Dr. Hubert Gehring, but also Karel Schwarzenberg, former Czech minister of foreign affairs and head of the second strongest Czech party, TOP 09. The internationally versed guests showed much interest in the situation in Czech Republic after the elections.

“International Conference of Young Scholars” on international relations took place in Prague

On Thursday, 27th of May 2010 the XIV. International Conference of Young Scholars – “Crucial Problems of International Relations through the Eyes of Young Scholars” took place at the VŠE – University of Economics in Prague. The conference was a joint project of the Center for International Studies of the VŠE, the Center of European Studies and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. XII. Štiřín Talks on May 11th 2010 a big success

Once again many representatives from economy, politics and science got together for the traditional Štiřín Talks (former Krušovice Talks) in 2010. The topic “Germany and Czech Republic – Current developments in the European economy” could not have been more up to date. 120 persons joined the presentation and discussions concerning interesting aspects of European economical policies. Former Czech EU commissioner Telička demands more constructive efforts of the Czech Republic in the EU

JUDr. Pavel Telička, former European commissioner, accepted an invitation of KAS Prague to give a presentation at the Prague University of Economics on May 13th 2010. He emphasized the important political tasks in times of the Lisbon treaty. The Czech Republic should constructively start participating in coalitions in the EU, in order not to be part of a group of member states that only act in a passive way.

Regional Journalist Award 2009 for Jaroslav Nedvěd

Again in 2010 and for the eigth time in a row, the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung calls for articles of regional journalists to reward one of them within the Regional Journalist Award. Last years successor was a journalist from the Mlada Fronta Dnes. The vice chief editor for regional editorial departments of the MF Dnes, Mr. Petr Orálek, was interviewed by the KAS on his thoughts about regional journalism in the Czech Republic. more…
