German-Czech parliamentarian meeting in Cadenabbia

The intensification of political cooperation between the parties of the European People’s Party of Germany and the Czech Republic has been the most important ambition of the seminar of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, which took place in the international conference of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Cadenabbia, Italia from the 10th until the 13th of May 2015.


In an integrative Europe, the cooperation between like-minded value-oriented parties is an inalienable condition to strengthen Christian Democratic and conservative voices in Europe. Exalted participants of the CDU Germany, the Czech Christian Democratic party KDU-ČSL and the conservative party TOP 09 took part in the seminar. The group was composed of six members of the parliament of Czech Republic, three members of the German parliament and one representative of the Hamburg citizenship as well as two representatives of the educational organisation of the Czech partner parties. Among others, members were Vice President of the Czech parliament Jan Bartošek, parliamentarian party leader of the KDU-ČSL Jiří Mihola as well as the representatives of the German parliament, Dr. Hans-Peter Friedrich, Federal Minister of the Interior and vice parliamentarian party leader of the CDU/CSU parliamentary party of European Policy, European Coordination and parliamentary Cooperation within Europe, Steffen Bilger, chairman of the advisory board of the Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung and both Dr. Christoph Bergner, member of the foreign committee and the committee of European Union Issues and Philipp Heißner, speaker of the CDU parliamentary party of Family, Children and Youth in the state parliament of the city Hamburg and member of the federal executive board of the JUNGEN UNION Germany.

The participants discussed about current challenges of migration policy, energy policy and foreign policy. Moreover, the topics political education as well as family and social policy and social market economy were taken up by the parliamentarians. The group has been accompanied by the head of foreign bureau of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Czech Republic and Slovakian Republic Dr. Werner Böhler.
