This compilation was realized as a result of the Regional Workhsop on Women`s Empowerment in the Economic, Social and Political Transformation of the Middle East, jointly organized with KAGIDER Association in December 2011 in Istanbul. The papers contain firsthand accounts and overservations on conditions that gave rise to the uprisings and revolutions from the women and experts of the Region and also provide an overview on various ways how the women in the Arab countries can eventually become more powerful in political, social and economic areas.
