The toolkit is developed as part of the project “Action for Strengthening Good Governance and Accountability in Uganda”, implemented by KAS and ACFODE with support from the European Union under the Democratic Governance and Accountability Programme (DGAP).

The toolkit comprises a set of information, education and communication materials that can be used to transfer knowledge on democratic governance and accountability to the grassroots level. The tools include: a set of fact cards and comic strips on democracy, good governance, and accountability; a guide of the concepts of good governance and accountability as well as a method guide for conducting grassroots civic education.

The tools have been developed by a team of experts working with the project team at KAS and ACFODE. In addition, it involved consultations and inputs from representatives of the districts where the project is implemented.

The materials have been translated into local languages considering the dialects of the different regions/districts where the project will be implemented. These materials will be passed on to citizens at the grassroots level for a continuous reference in educating themselves about democracy, good governance and accountability.
