New criteria for journalists in digital era
News agencies and journalists are highly affected by the dynamic media environment of the digital era. No matter if Facebook, Twitter or other social media networks: the spread of information is tremendously fast and mostly information is not verified. For that reason, filtering and using such information correctly are of great importance. Representatives of news agencies, journalists and students discussed that issue in a seminar organized by the Faculty of Journalism and Communication (VNU).
Ethic principles of journalism in theory and practice
Journalists are facing big ethical challenges due to the high number of available information. In a seminar hosted by Vietnam Journalists’ Association, Journalists were debating how to handle information ethically correctly. Starting from the social responsibility of journalists, the goal is to sensitise them to be aware of the importance of serious reporting.
The effects of laws on social life
Civil society organisations of the Fatherland Front should increasingly monitor the implementation of diverse laws. The new regulations were discussed by representatives from provinces, civil society organisations and the executive in a seminar organized by the Ministry of Justice. The aim is to create instances for citizens where violations of laws can be registered transparently. Furthermore, there is a need to promote monitoring mechanisms in the implementation of laws for the executive.
