TET Celebration

Vietnam is preparing for the Vietnamese New Year. TET is the most important celebration of Vietnamese culture. The word is a shortened form of Tết Nguyên Đán: "Feast of the First Morning of the First Day". It celebrates the arrival of spring based on the Vietnamese calendar. We wish all our partners happy holidays and a prosperous new year!

Keynote Speech to Civic Engagement

During his two-day visit to Hanoi the Honorary Chairman, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Vogel, held a much applauded speech on the importance of civic engagement and the role of the citizens for a prosperous society. On his third visit to Vietnam he was welcomed by high ranking officials from Government, National Assembly and members of the civil society. Vogel also took part in the 20th Anniversary celebration of KAS in Vietnam.

Honorary Chairman of KAS visits Hanoi

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of KAS in Hanoi, Prof. Dr. Bernhard Vogel, Former Prime Minister and Honorary Chairman of KAS, holds a speech about the role of citizens in state. He is accompanied by the Deputy General Secretary of KAS, Dr. Gerhard Wahlers. Both meet high-ranking politicians and members of the National Assembly during their visit. Long-standing partners of KAS in Vietnam are expected to attend the ceremonial act.

Vice Minister of Home Affairs of Vietnam and Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation in Vietnam deepen cooperation

The Vietnamese Ministry of Home Affairs and KAS look back at long term cooperation in the fields of decentralization and public administration reform. During a meeting with the Country Representative of KAS in Vietnam, Mrs. Rabea Brauer, on 9th of December, the Vice Minister of Home Affairs, Dr. Tran Anh Tuan, praised KAS for its contribution to the development of democratic structures and good governance in Vietnam.

Religion in Vietnam: meeting the Government Committee for Religious Affairs

The Committee introduced itself and the religious landscape in Vietnam during a meeting between the Chairman of the Committee and the Country Representative of KAS in Vietnam on 09th of December. Vietnam intends to expand its international cooperation and wants to learn from the experiences from other countries. The dialogue of values and religions are important focal points of the European and international cooperation efforts of KAS.

Numerous visitors discussed with us about our projects and objectives while learning about the history of KAS and our global role within development politics. During the visit of the Vice President and European Commissioner for Enterprise and Industry from 12.-13.11., representatives from industry associations and from the political sector from the EU and Vietnam discussed future cooperation i.a. in the SME-sector as well as in the field of sustainable tourism. In light of its ongoing EU service contract "Support to Business, Public Diplomacy and Outreach in Vietnam", the KAS Office in Vietnam co-organized the visit of the EU-Delegation to Vietnam. more…

ASEAN Delegation of the European Parliament visits Vietnam

Chair of the ASEAN Delegation of the European Parliament, Dr. Werner Langen, arrived in Hanoi to hold inter-parliamentary meetings with Vietnamese counterparts. The regular meetings are to close ties between the Parliaments, and to deepen the Europe–Vietnam relations. KAS Country Representative, Rabea Brauer, met with the Delegation to introduce the extensive KAS country program as well as the ongoing EU projects and their positive implications to Vietnam’s economical and social development. more…

Social Media under Debate

"We need to live in Peace with the Social Networks"

KAS together with the National University of Vietnam and its Faculty of Journalism staged a debate on current social media in Vietnam. Apart from analysing newly introduced rules and regulations, students, journalists and editors discussed the implications of new media on traditional journalism in Vietnam. The participants pledged for a more relaxed view on social networks by the Government, encouraging the latter to embrace rather than opposing it: Users, studies find, “feel more democratic”.
