President of Bundestag visits KAS booth at German Festival Day

Dr. Norbert Lammert , President of the German Parliament, has a talk with KAS Country Representative Rabea Brauer about the Vietnam's political situation when he visits the foundation's booth at the German Festival which was held last Saturday in Hanoi. Dr Lammert is in the capital city to participate in the 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union.

KAS determines to promote democracy in Asia

HCM CITY – Leaders of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) and the foundation’s country representatives in the Asia-Pacific region gather this week in Ho Chi Minh City to discuss the development of democracy in the region as well as the action plan of the foundation for period 2016-18. Highlighted in KAS’ week-long agenda is the conference on democracy development in Asia and the challenges that KAS faces. Law designed to ensure fair elections

HA NOI (VNS)— Members of the National Assembly Standing Committee yesterday discussed the draft Law on the election of NA deputies and People's Councils in its first session after the Tet holiday, emphasizing fairness and transparency in the election process, and increasing the political representation of women and ethnic minorities. The Law on the election of NA deputies and People's Councils is expected to be approved at the NA general meeting in mid-May. more…

Vietnam awaiting for challenges in EVFTA implementation

The EU and Vietnam expect to be two rounds of negotiations away from the signing of the Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). The EVFTA roundtable aimed at a better understanding of the challenges which Vietnam will face by implementing the agreement. The KAS in cooperation with the Commission for External Relations, Communist Party of Vietnam, has invited leading officials from the Vietnamese executive, EU Delegation, UNESCAP, enterprises and scholars to find solutions to the fundamental challenges. more…

Judicial council for Vietnam?

On 04 December legal experts from Vietnam and other countries discussed the possibility of an establishment of a judicial council in Vietnam. International experiences, e.g. from USA and France, contributed to further decision-finding process of the Vietnamese executive in this issue. The seminar was organized by the KAS and the Institute of Legal Science, Ministry of Justice, with the presence of Dr. Nguyen Khanh Ngoc, Vietnamese Vice-Minister of Justice.

German-Vietnamese Media Dialogue 2014

Traditional and New Media: Experiences from Germany and Vietnam

In the German-Vietnamese Media Dialogue, six German journalists have met with leading Vietnamese media representatives in Hanoi. The 4 days were marked by tense discussions about the changing role of traditional media in the digital era. The journalists also held debates on new ethical and educational challenges that journalists face by the rising importance of new media. The program was financed by the Foreign Federal Office of Germany and both drafted and implemented by the KAS in Vietnam.
