In October 2006 the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Gregorian University in Rome organized the symposium "The Purpose of Politics - New Challenges for the Social Sciences in the Age of Globalization" for discussing and reflecting about values and principles in modern times and to find solutions for a new social world order. This publications contains contributions from authors from Argentine, Chile, Colombia, Germany, Italy, Kenya, Singapore, South Africa and Zambia. It presents discussions concerning matters of solidarity, justice and responsibility addressing the limits and guidelines in the age of globalization.
