Bulgaria’s TV7 loses licences

Bulgaria’s Council for Electronic Media (CEM) has decided to revoke the licences of TV7 and its thematic channels News 7 and Super 7.Capital reports that TV7 was removed from the DTT multiplex late last year because it could not afford the broadcasting fee.It has since been declared bankrupt and is now understood to owe a total of around BGN32 million (€16.28 million) to a number of parties including CEM and the transmission company NURTS.The decision to revolk the licences was supported by four of CEM’s five members.Maria Stoyanova, CEM’s president, said that TV7’s continued presence in Bulgaria’s small and tough TV market was harming business.
