Freedom on the Internet has become a powerful weapon in the hands of terrorists, gen. Kircho Kirov, former manager of the National Intelligence Service, told FOCUS Radio’s Good Morning Bulgaria.

In his words, after the attack in London, it seems that there is a clear need for the first time to fight terrorism also in cyber space."The main thing that has to be realised by the governments of EU, the US and Russia, and in general those who are the main targets of terrorist activity, is that counteracting is a matter of policy. This is first of all the policy of integration of minorities and religious communities, their integration into the original or main peoples where they have come or were born. In yesterday’s case or the case in Manchester, we are witnessing actions of so-called converts, i.e. people who are born in the civilised world and who enjoy the benefits, spiritualities and values of this world. Nevertheless, they have suddenly come under the influence of Al-Qaeda and Islamic State ideology," according to Gen. Kircho Kirov.He said the problems of integration have been underestimated in today's civilised world for decades. One needs to seek the balance between politics, the work of special services and actions on the ideological front in order to create a climate that does not generate terrorist and hate reactions.
