Visit of Prof. Dr. Norbert Lammert, President of the German Parliament (Bundestag) in Namibia

From Tuesday 6 October to Friday 9 of October, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Namibia/Angola together with the German Embassy received a visit of Prof. Dr. Nobert Lammert, the President of the German Parliament (Bundestag) and in this position, the second highest ranked person in the German State. This visit was initiated by an invitation of the Resident Representative of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Namibia-Angola Dr. Bernd Althusmann from December 2014.

During his visit Prof. Lammert met with Prof. Peter H. Katjavivi, his counterpart and speaker of the Namibian Parliament, and with McHenry Venaani, the leader of the official opposition party, met representatives of the civil society, he received a guided tour at the National Museum and the Deutsche Höhere Privat Schule (DHPS).

Highlights of the visit was a meeting with representatives and beneficiaries of the Norbert-Lammert-Stiftung at The Univeristy Center for Studies in Namibia (TUCSIN), the foundation´s Namibian partner organization. Prof Lammert also addressed a public lecture, organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation together with Prof. Dr. Joseph Diescho on the topic of “25 years independence: Perspectives for the German-Namibian partnership”.

During the last two days. A delegation from the Embassy, KAS and Prof. Lammert visited the Gobabeb Research Center and Swakopmund on a field trip.
