The Minister of the Environment of Nature Protection and Sustainable Development, His Excellency Hélé Pierre, chaired a workshop organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Ministry of Environment of the Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development (MINEPDED).

This 2-day workshop (October 9-10, 2017) brought together the various stakeholders (Governments, organizations, civil society, financial promoters, etc.) which will take part in the next COP23, to be held in Bonn, Germany. The aim here was to harmonize Cameroon's participation and position by capitalizing on information and its expectations and to give itself a roadmap to speak with one voice during international negotiations

Cameroon, like many other countries, ratified the Paris agreement in 2015 and compromised a 32% reduction in greenhouse gases, 11% unconditional and 22% conditional, with the help of foreign partners.

Capacity building, technologies transfer and access to finance are the major challenges facing the Government of Cameroon in fulfilling its obligations.

At the end of the workshop, the following results were heard:

- The evolution of international climate negotiations was presented;

- The challenges of COP 23 presented;

- The main lines of preparation for the implementation of the Cameroon CDN were presented

- The position and expectations of Cameroon at COP 23 are known

- The role of each member of the Cameroon delegation is discussed and clarified.
