Induction training workshop for civic educators from partner organisations in Zomba-Malawi

Induction and review training workshop for translated civic awareness materials

The induction training workshop for civic educators from partner organisations (NASFAM and WoLREC) in Zomba was conducted between 4th and 5th April 2018 at Hotel Masongola in Zomba. The workshop was aimed at getting the civic educators, field officers, paralegals and community facilitators introduced to the newly translated draft Chichewa versions of the Civic Awareness Materials for Community Facilitators, the Orientation Material for Customary Land Committees and the draft comic fliers of both materials and seek their editorial review inputs towards finalising the drafts.

Regional conference on strengthening land tenure and land ownership rights for women in Malawi, Zimbabwe and Namibia

The EWoH2 sub-regional conference held in Lilongwe-Malawi on 26 and 27 February 2018 was organised with the aim of facilitating the exchange of knowledge, lessons and good practices among EWoH2 collaborating country partners of KAS, on one hand, and experts in land governance from Malawi, Namibia and Zimbabwe, on the other. It was also in part an evaluative conference to review progress, setbacks and prospects of realizing the project objectives after two years of implementing the One World – No Hunger Project in the three countries.

Environment, Security and Migration in the Middle East & Africa

Looking to the Future

On April 19, the MNED of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) Brussels office, together with the EastWest Institute (EWI), organised a workshop concerning the nexus between migration, environment and security in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The dialogue brought together experts, policy makers, journalists, and academics from the individual countries across the MENA region to discuss a range of interrelated issues pertaining to the region’s future energy, water and food security, and how the outlooks of these respective domains may affect future migratory flows.

Conflict Prevention and Human Rights in Lebanon

Training and Graffiti in order to promote the youth in Al-Qaa

To reconcile Syrians and Lebanese, train the youth in conflict prevention and human right as well as to promote tourism, the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation worked toghether with the NGO Dawaer on behalf of the Bernhard-Vogel-Foundation in Al-Qaa, North Bekaa-valley. On the 9th and 10th of June, a final workshop taught the youth life skills with regard to human rights, conflict management and dealing with racism. Also, in a community project a graffiti artist from Beirut and teenagers from Al-Qaa created interactive wall paintings in order to raise awareness for similar reconciliation projects.

Enhancing Hong Kong’s Energy Efficiency

Lessons from China and Germany

Private and public buildings count for a large portion of overall energy consumption in cities. Therefore, energy-efficient buildings are one of the key issues to mitigate climate change. A research project by the Hong Kong Business and Environment Council (BEC), supported by KAS RECAP, compares buildings’ energy efficiency policies and measures of different cities around the world and what lesson can be learnt for Hong Kong. On June 11, a third BEC workshop was held to examine the energy efficiency related policy framework of Beijing, Shenzhen and Essen, Europas "Grüne Hauptstadt" 2017.
