Achieving Peace in South Sudan: What Role for Civil Society?

Since the outbreak of violence in South Sudan in 2013, attempts at achieving lasting peace have been unsuccessful and criticized for not including all relevant stakeholders. KAS hosted a roundtable with representatives of South Sudanese women, youth, artists and religious leaders to explore how CSOs can contribute to achieving sustainable peace in the country.

Workshop on media usage for Lebanese and Syrian youngsters in Qaa

On the 18th and 19th of November 2017, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the Dawaer Foundation organized a workshop in Qaa for Lebanese and Syrian youngsters around the topic of media usage. The workshop taught the young people how to handle media and media content critically, thereby protecting them against hate speech and digital campaigns by extremist groups on the internet and via social media. At the end of the workshop, the newly acquired knowledge was applied as part of a practical project.

Role and Responsibilities of Christian Women for Peace Building and Development

Leadership Training in Mtwara

On the 2nd and the 3rd of December 2017, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and the Christian Women’s Association “Wanawake Wakatoliki wa Tanzania” (WAWATA) of the diocese Mtwara jointly convened a workshop on the “Role and Responsibilities of Christian Women for Peace Building and Development”. The event took place at the Masista Secondary School in Mtwara. More than 60 people took part.

Tolerance and Conflict Resolution

JUWAQUTA Regional Leadership Training

On Saturday, December 2nd, the Association of Quran Teachers in Tanzania (JUWAQUTA) and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) organized a workshop for the Mtwara JUWAQUTA Regional Leadership under the motto “Tolerance and Conflict Resolution”. The event took place at the VETA Hall in Mtwara.
