The Academy of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung
The Berlin Academy of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is the national forum of dialogue between the spheres of politics, economy, science, and society.
The Academy sets distinctive highlights with symposia, conferences, meetings of acknowledged and recognized experts, and exhibitions. It presents relevant societal and socio-political issues offering debates of trend-setting and ground-breaking topics as well as thorough studies of the past.
Berlin is a focal center of European politics. The Academy considers itself a seismometer of social development in Germany and in Europe and the source of inspiration of an open and forward-looking debate. We advocate and advance the idea of active participation in civil society and study models of social and societal integration. The “KAS Young Academy” intends to kindle the interest of young people in politics and their taking over of civic responsibility. “KAS on the Spot” looks into present problems and topics of various districts of the city of Berlin.
Central themes of our historical education are the study and debate of the two dictatorships on German soil during the last century, the post-war history of the Federal Republic, the history of the reunification of Germany and of the unification of Europe. We emphasize the memory of the Shoah and the dialogue with the modern Jewish world. Furthermore, we keep alive the intellectual and spiritual heritage of Konrad Adenauer and restudy his political achievements and tenets.
The Berlin Civic Education Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung is part of the Academy. Here, citizens of the German capital can get information on and discuss important current topics. They are also invited to train skills needed to take over responsibility in society.
The Academy is a division located in the heart of Berlin. The building of the same name is a modern conference center used by all divisions as the central KAS site for national as well as international meetings, conferences, and conventions.
