Nicht erst mit dem Irak-Feldzug zeigten einige EU-Mitglieder in Mittel- und Osteuropa ein verstärktes Interesse an einer neuen transatlantischen Kooperation. Über die europäischen Strukturen hinweg wurde direkt der Weg nach Amerika gesucht. In Tschechien und Polen wird diese Tendenz heute anhand der Diskussion um den Bau der Radar- und Raketenabwehranlagen besonders deutlich.

Experten transatlantischer Fragen diskutieren die Ursachen, Ausprägungen und Perspektiven des neuen Atlantismus in Mitteleuropa.
