70 years of NATO: The U.S., Europe and the Future of the Transatlantic Security Policy

Workshop on October 29, 2019

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s purpose is to guarantee the freedom and security of its members through political and military means.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of NATO’s founding in April 1949 and ahead of the London summit in December the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung is partnering with the German Marshall Fund of the United States to organize a workshop with experts from Brussels, Berlin and Washington, DC. They will discuss the challenges for NATO, the geopolitical security policy environment, and NATO’s role in the future. One focus will be on NATO and EU capabilities, another on the interplay between the EU’s Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) and NATO’s strategy.
