Agenda 2030 - KAS Internal Strategy Workshop

18 representatives of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, gathered for an internal Strategy Workshop in the KAS New York Office. The main aim was to discuss how KAS activities inside Germany and through offices all over the world can – and already do - support the implementation of the SDGs and how a more strategic approach can be applied.

Due to KAS’ mandate and focus areas, we are able to contribute to most SDGs. Predominantly, KAS activities contribute to achieve Goal 16 (specifically 16.3, 16.4, 16.6, 16.7., 16.8., 16.10 16.a), not only due to the four regional rule of law programs, but also due to activities in most country offices. Additionally, regional programs on energy security and climate change work towards achieving goals 1.5, 3.d, 7.a, 11.b and 13.3. Throughout the workshop, many more cross-over points between Agenda 2030 and the work of KAS have been identified.

Presentations by KAS colleagues on their work sur-place were complemented by input from representatives of the World Bank (WB) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Mr. Gillsäter, Special Representative to the United Nations highlighted the work the WB does on implementing the SDGs, explained their focus points and tools of implementation. Ms. Orosz, SDG Implementation Advisor and Ms. Modéer, Assistant Administrator in the Director of the Bureau for External Relations explained UNDPs global approach to implement Agenda 2030.
