“Quo vadis, Europe? Questions of Identity, Sovereignty and Responsibility”

As the longest serving member of the European Parliament (EP) for almost 40 years, Elmar Brok is widely credited for his significant contributions to EU foreign policy (Head of European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs for 13 years) and constitutional matters. Following his retirement from Parliament in June this year, Mr Brok was appointed Special Adviser to the outgoing EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker on relations with Ukraine.

Energiestrategien: Deutschland, Neuseeland & Australien im Vergleich

Das KAS Regionalprogramm Australien und Pazifik hat sein zweites Energiepolitisches Dialogprogramm auch in diesem Jahr wieder in Kooperation mit dem European Centre for Energy and Resources Security (EUCERS) (welches umbenannt wird zu European Centre for Climate and Energy Security) geplant. Das Dialogprogramm wird vom 7. bis zum 11. Oktober in Neuseeland und Australien stattfinden. Ziel des Dialogs ist es, politische Entscheidungsträger, Experten und Industrievertreter aus Australien, Deutschland und Neuseeland an einen Tisch zu bringen, wo sie aktuell energiepolitische Herausforderungen und mögliche Lösungen diskutieren können.

Das Development Policy Centre der Australian National University wird sein Pacific Update auch dieses Jahr wieder mit der Unterstützung des KAS Regionalprogramms Australien und Pazifik durchführen.

Das themenübergreifende Konferenz findet vom 3. bis zum 5. Juli 2019 an der University of the South Pacific in Suva/Fidschi statt.

Otago Foreign Policy School, Dunedin

Das KAS Regionalprogramm Australien und Pazifik freut sich, auch in diesem Jahr wieder die Foreign Policy School der University of Otago in Neuseeland unterstützen zu dürfen.

The inaugural KAS-ANUCES Roadshow Rule of Law was concerned with the EU Green Deal with a focus on the Just Transition Mechanism. The EU Green Deal was passed by the European Parliament in 2020 and aims to establish Europe as the first climate neutral continent by 2050. Underpinning the Green Deal is the European Climate Law – the binding legislative framework for the delivery of the EU’s commitments.

Usually, this is achieved through a combination of roundtables, an in-depth seminar and meetings at various relevant institutions and ministries, as well as the respective federal, state and EU Parliaments – alternating between Canberra/Sydney and Berlin/Brussels as locations.
