Montenegrin investigative journalist Jovo Martinovic was sentenced today in a second-instance verdict by the High Court in Podgorica to one year in prison for drug trafficking, and was acquitted of the organised crime charges against him. He was arrested in October 2015 and spent almost a year-and-a-half in custody before being released in January 2017. The international media watchdog Reporters Without Borders commented that it was black day for press freedom and Martinovic had been convicted despite a clear lack of evidence.
