The Belgian economy is growing: In 2015, companies exported goods in the value of 362 billion Euro. That was an increase of 1.4 % in comparison to 2014. The main recipient countries were Germany (61 billion Euro) and France (56 billion Euro). But there is also an increase in the more distant sales markets like Cuba or Mexico. Furthermore, in a recent business survey, 45 % of the companies expect a positive economic development.
This contrasts with the current political European development, especially the case of Great Britain and its economic consequences. How does this affect the Belgian economic structure? How vulnerable is the Belgian economy? How strong are the Belgian companies?
Another challenge is the digital “revolution”. Industry 4.0 became a favorite slogan. How resilient are the current business models of Belgian companies respectively are the companies in a good position regarding the digital development?
