“You have blown our concerns away!”. This was a statement made by Mr. Duewer Carsten of the C. Woermann following a speech delivered by the Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Barwumia leading a dialogue on Deepening Economic ties between Ghana and the International Community with German Enterprises. The Vice President provided a panoramic view of the challenges confronting the business communities in executing the various business objectives in the country. He stressed on various anti-corruptions polices and plans, fiscal discipline programmes within the public sector, proper treatment of international experts, reduction high cost of during business, high electricity tariffs in Ghana, landownership and local content law. The German Ambassador, H.E. Christoph Retzlaff stressed the need to harness the appropriate synergy between Ghana and Germany. One of such steps is the invitation from the German Chancellor H.E. Angela Merkel to H.E. Nana Akufo Addo for a conference on possible compact between Germany and selected African Countries with the World Bank and IMF in June 2017. The Resident Representative of KAS, Mr. Burkhardt Hellemann emphasized the synergic contributions of political foundations in bridging the gap between industry and government. He maintained that such engagements will be deepening in the coming years to ensure stronger German business presence in the country because German enterprises have a lot to contribute to the Ghanaian markets. The Dialogue was attended by 30 German business enterprises.
