Opportunities for a more Inclusive Indian Foreign Policy

-by Kubernein Initiative-KAS India

New and emerging challenges, from the uncertainties caused by climate change to the cascading effects of the ongoing pandemic, call for alterations in traditional approaches to decision making. Voices need to be heard from diverse skill sets, backgrounds, expertise and lived experiences. A more inclusive foreign policy lens recognises the emerging threats to a nation and global relationships with an approach that is both progressive and realistic. With these issues in mind the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung India Office in cooperation with the Kubernein Initiative, brought forward a report exploring: "Opportunities for a more Inclusive Indian Foreign Policy."

TERI-KAS National workshop on, “Climate Change: New Age Evolution”

-by TERI-KAS India

Contrary to the metaphorical boat so often invoked when talking about Climate Change, there is only one Earth: our efforts to keep it afloat is a task of existential proportions that requires concrete action, not idle talk. The third day of the TERI-KAS national workshop on "Climate Change - New Age Evolution" provided us with precisely such urgently needed concrete action plans and solution approaches on how to effectively tackle the climate crisis facing today. Intense discussions among experts on the financial dimensions involved as well as on the technological and societal changes that are requisite to achieve our climate goals, a pathway towards a verdant India was laid out. This was built on the imperative desire to protect our citizens from the threats to their lives and well-being that climate change is already causing and will continue to cause in even more drastic forms in the times to come if we fail to act now. The conference deliberations ended with an outlook on the future of climate change for India and the shared realisation of all participants, that climate change is no longer a distant concern, it is happening right here, it is happening right now and it is our moral duty, as well as our pledge to future generations, to come together and combat it.

CII-KAS Webinar on “India and Germany Strengthening Skills”

-by CII-KAS India

India and Germany have been strong partners in the field of development cooperation. Skill enhancement has become a core focus area for the Indian Government and many initiatives and interventions have been undertaken in this direction to make Indian workers globally competitive. The Skill India Mission was launched in India in 2015, with the objective of transforming the training eco-system and imparting diverse skills to Indian workers with the help of vocational training and certification. Germany has been one of India’s most proactive partners in this area. Germany’s dual system of Vocational Education and Training (VET) is a simple, cost-effective and inclusive model that has been one of the pivotal factors behind the country’s competitiveness in the manufacturing sector. Therefore, India could learn a lot from Germany’s dual system of VET.
