14 th All India Conference of China Studies (AIICS) Conference with ICS and Visva-Bharati University

The 14th All India Conference of China Studies (AICCS) was held from November 11-13, 2021, in hybrid mode. The Conference was organised by the Institute of Chinese Studies (ICS) and Cheena Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University, in partnership with the India Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS); the Special Theme of the Conference was “Society and Culture in China”.

The Youth Perception of the rule of law in India- Developing a Methodology

The workshop to develop the methodology for studying the youth perception ofthe Rule of Law in India was organised by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and Christ (Deemed to be University) (CU) on the 13th of October 2021 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The one-day closed-door workshop took place in four sessions. The workshop was inaugurated by Reverend Dr Fr. Biju KC (Campus Director of Christ Deemed to be University, BGR), Mr Elias Marini Schaefer KAS representative India Office, and Dr Venkatanarayanan S, the project director. The workshop's primary aim was to identify and develop a suitable research design, an appropriate sample design, identify the suitable variable list, develop a data collection tool, and identify analysis tools to analyse the data.

ICRIERs 13th Annual International G20 Conference Global Economic Coordination in the Age of Pandemic

ICRIER organised its 13th Annual International G20 Conference on 6-8th October 2021 on the theme – “Global Economic Coordination in the Age of Pandemic: Views from the G20 Members”. It was a three-day long G20 conference, and the conference was held virtually, on online webinar portals WebEx and Zoom and it was streamed Live on ICRIER’s YouTube channel. The Conference was conducted in partnership with the India Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI).

The Youth Perception of the rule of law in India -Developing a working definition of the rule of law

The one day workshop to develop a working definition of the rule of law was held at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) on 29th September 2021. The workshop was attended by law experts from all over India from diverse backgrounds to deliberate and finalize a working definition of the rule of law for the project. The workshop had two sessions, where in the first session, the experts presented their views regarding the rule of law from diverse perspectives. The second session had a common deliberation of experts to develop a working definition of the rule of law for the project. An edited book volume will be brought out based on the experts' chapters by the end of the year. Based on the developed working definition of the rule of law, an appropriate methodology will be developed in a following second workshop in mid October 2021 in order to conduct all India surveys.

PHDCCI Ambassadors’ Meet- Fostering International Economic Cooperation

The Ambassadors’ Meet is an annual flagship of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry and is being organised for more than three decades, the current edition being the 36th edition in the series. The Meet provides a unique experience to the Indian Industry to interact and renew their contacts with the diplomatic community. All the previous edition of the Meet had witnessed participation of several Ambassadors, High Commissioner and Diplomats from the Foreign Missions based in New Delhi, senior bureaucrats from Government of India, Captains of the Indian Industry.

The Media Rumble 2021

The India Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) partnered with The Media Rumble on panel discussions exploring issues of strategic, Geo-economic and contemporary relevance. The discussions brought together thought leaders, opinion shapers and domain experts to discuss topics of contemporary interest. In order to understand issues pertaining to the media, government policies, and international cooperation such discussions become crucial. The forum is jointly organised by Newslaundry and Teamwork Arts- the curators of the Jaipur Literature Festival. With the changing policy and media landscape, the fifth edition of The Media Rumble, held virtually, from September 22 to 25, focused on a plethora of issues pertaining to journalism, climate action, platform accountability, the Afghanistan crisis, and the need for a collaborative approach by international communities.

People, Planet, Prosperity: Rebuilding Differently

The third webinar 3 of the ICRIER-KAS webinar series on: "COVID-19 Global Best Practices: Lessons for/from India," looked at the importance of the three P's. The webinar on the 13th of September was graced by the presence of a panel filled to the brim by expert speakers being: Prof. Dr. Anna-Katharina Hornidge, Director, German Development Institute (DIE); Dr. Peter Taylor, Director of Research, Institute of Development Studies (IDS); Dr. Matthew L. Bishop, Senior Lecturer, Department of Politics and International Relations, The University of Sheffield & Dr. Alok Sheel, RBI Chair Professor in Macroeconomics, ICRIER; Former Secretary, Governments of India and Kerala. The welcome address was delivered by Dr Deepak Mishra, Director and CEO of the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), while Mr. Peter Rimmele, Resident Representative of KAS India, gave his opening remarks. In addition, Dr. Ali Mehdi, Senior Visiting Fellow and Head of the Health Policy Initiative, chaired the session.

Shifting Gears of China's Post-COVID Economy

The event witnessed the presence of the speakers Mr. Peter Rimmele; Mr. Hans H. Tung, Mrs. Mareike Ohlberg, Mrs. Nivedita Rao Kommineni and Mrs. Priyanka Pandit and was moderated by Mr. Santosh Pai.
