Details

Kadi Muhammed Zibdeh—the former kadi of Jerusalem and now the kadi of Yaffo—will speak about the MORAL AND SOCIAL IMPLICATIONS OF THE FAST OF RAMADAN. Kadi Zibdeh, who is a former educator and a participant in interreligious dialogues and seminars for many years, will explain to the people in attendance the relevance of the observances of the month of Ramadan for our times.

Two responses will be offered. One by Rabbi Yehuda Gilad, Co-founder

and Rosh Yeshiva at Yeshivat Ma'aleh Gilboa, Rabbi of Kibbutz Lavi, and a former M.K., on behalf of the Meimad religious Zionist party, and by Archbishop Aris Shirvanian of the Armenian Patriarchate in Jerusalem, one of the leading Christians involved in interreligious dialogue in Israel.

Most of the people in attendance will be Muslims, Jews, and Christians who are actively involved in Interreligious dialogue for peaceful coexistence in this country and this region. According to Dr. Ron Kronish, the director of the Interreligious Coordinating Council in Israel (ICCI), "these people don't make the news much because they don't kill any one and they don't engage in verbal violence."

This is a unique opportunity to meet Muslims, Jews, Druze, and Christians from all over Israel who are genuinely interested in peaceful coexistence, and who oppose violence and extremism in no uncertain terms.

In attendance will be leading kadis (Muslim judges), imams (clergy) and educators—from all over Israel and from East Jerusalem—along with rabbis, Christian religious leaders, educators, and journalists.
