Harassment faced by female journalists

The harassment and abuse against journalists has been an issue in Cambodia, especially worsening since the Covid-19 pandemic. Moreover, female journalists are disproportionately affected for instance by sexual violence they encounter when reporting. Regardless whether the abuses take place verbally or digitally, they affect not only the individual journalist and their mental health but also the sector as a whole, as (young) people become more hesitant to work in an unsafe profession. Therefore, we want to offer a safe platform for female journalists to discuss their experiences and challenges they face as women in the field and hear their suggestions for improvements. We also aim to inform young journalism students of issues they may face and how they can prepare.
