In 2016, KAS Kenya engaged youth in 10 Counties namely Makueni, Kiambu, Kericho, Kajiado, Kisii, Busia, Kilifi, Kirinyaga, Meru and Laikipia. During the forums held in those ten counties, the youth were taken through a rigorous exercise to identify challenges affecting their political engagement. In addition, the youth also selected their IPYF representatives in their Counties.

On 14th March 2017, the representatives selected from those ten Counties, together with national officials of the IPYF, were invited back to view and discuss a draft policy document developed from the engagements in 2016. During this validation meeting held at Rainbow Resort in Ruiru, the youth looked at the challenges summarized from the County forums and summarized them to three top most economic, social and political challenges that affect engagement of youth in political processes, country-wide.

From the validation meeting, a near complete draft policy with challenges affecting the youth will be developed with the vision to use it once the new parliament is recalled after the election in August 2017.
