KAS Virtual Launch of Business Heroes in Kenya

Social Ecological Market Economy

In reference to the aspect of Social Market Economy, KAS Kenya ventured to follow the journey of one Kenyan Business Hero Dr. Maxwel Okoth, founder/CEO Ruai Family Hospital, RFH Healthcare Ltd, who shares his experiences in setting up his business despite the various challenges encountered. The film will thus further enhance experience sharing and discussions on how best to integrate the SEME aspect in the country.

Mentorship Training based on the evaluation

On the 2nd-4th of April, 2019, KAS, Kenya held a mentorship training in Mombasa, with 17 young politicians. It was a follow up on previous mentorship programs, where mentors and mentees have been taken through the process of understanding their rights, the importance of political participation, as well as getting engaged in political actions on the ground. Overall, more than 850 mentees have benefitted from the program so far, countrywide. The program further trains and strengthens the mentees in organizing and conducting their own mentorship programs as a trickle-down effect.

Use of early-warning systems:Gathering information, technical instruments, engaging government.

The CSOs trained earlier particularly the ToTs and other facilitators will be assisted by KAS to put the knowledge learnt into action by engaging in community level trainings, this time round, in light of the ongoing government budgetary process.

The forum will create opportunities for pre-selected political parties that are potentially partners of KAS Kenya to share their political parties beliefs vis-à-vis KAS Kenya’s work,their manifestos,activities and gaps therein.

The aim of the round table discussion is to stimulate discussions between entrepreneurs, politicians and IT-experts on the potential design of a framework for virtual markets in the country and this is the first of many discussions to take place.

Youth, Women and Persons with Disability access to Government Procurement Workshop

The training session focused on the question of how youth, women and persons living with disability can access government procurement and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Disaster Risk Management and Livelihood Development: How to build Drought Resilience

County leaders, including members of the County Executive Committee, county officers, the heads of the county ministries and departments and representatives of the civil society took part in the forums of four days’ duration in Eldoret. The workshop aimed at providing a platform for county leaders to dialogue on the topic of resilience building with regard to food security. The discussions were based on the “Ending Drought Emergencies (EDE) Framework”.

24. bis 27. November 2015 in Eldoret

Im Fokus des viertägigen Forums in Eldoret stand das Thema Krisenmanagement bezüglich wiederkehrender Nahrungsmittelunsicherheit. Neben politischen Entscheidungsträgern nahmen auch Vertreter der Zivilgesellschaft an der Veranstaltung teil.

The training activities targeted members of local, national and international civil society organisations, the media and local government. Facilitators were drawn mainly from a government agency with expertise in issues concerning food security in the arid and semi-arid regions (ASALs) of Kenya. The participants interacted with the trainers and discussed the most effective lobbying and advocacy techniques towards implementing food security in their counties .

Building the Capacity of Trade Associations in Advocacy and Decentralizing Structures

The workshop, which was held from 28th to 29th July, targeted 58 trade association leaders and business leaders drawn from six Sub-Counties of Mombasa County. It was organized by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in collaboration with the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI). The main focus was on building the capacity of trade associations in trade advocacy and decentralized structures as well as to introduce certain aspects of Social Market Economy to the participants with the aim of empowering them to overcome economic challenges in their counties.

First inter- and intraparty Workshop held in Maanzoni Lodge

The Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation in Kenya organized the first workshop that aims at engaging party representatives in a cooperative dialogue. The aim of the workshop was to establish structures for effective participation and engagement of the youth in the political dialogue within and outside political parties. Furthermore the target was to promote intraparty dialogue with a special focus on enhancing the role of youth organs in political parties. The workshop took place in Machakos County from 11th to 13th August 2015, at Maanzoni Lodge, near Nairobi.

Am 17. und 18. Juli organisierte die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in West Pokot einen Workshop zum Thema "Rolle der Frauen in der Politik- Möglichkeiten der Interventionen". Die Veranstaltung sollte Frauen in West Pokot County als Plattform dienen, sich über ihre Rechte und Möglichkeiten sich in die Politik einzubringen, zu informieren.
