INTRODUCTION

On behalf of the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation (KAF) and the Malaysian Interfaith Network (MIN) we warmly welcome you to benefit from this unique interfaith project in cooperation with Professor Dr. Hans Küng, chairman of the Global Ethic Foundation.

This exhibition introduces to you, in its first part, the following religions and faiths:

INDIGENOUS SPIRITUALITIES

HINDUISM

CHINESE RELIGION

BUDDHISM

JUDAISM

CHRISTIANITY

ISLAM

SIKHISM

BAHÁ’Í FAITH

In the second part of the exhibition

you will be informed about the Global Ethic concept, the importance of the Golden Rule principle, and the six core ethical standards, which all religions and belief systems have in common:

1)Every human being must be treated humanely

2)Treat others as you would like to be treated

(i.e. the so-called GOLDEN RULE)

3)Have respect for life

4)Deal honestly and fairly

5)Speak and act truthfully

6)Respect and love one another,

and be responsible for your partner‘s happiness

These are the six basic principles for a global ethic which have been accepted by the Parliament of the World’s Religions in 1993.

The aims of this exhibition are to contribute

-to a better understanding, respect and appreciation

of the different world religions and faiths, and

-to a better knowledge about the common moral values

and ethical standards which these religions share.

This exhibition is just a ‘starter’

- a small and necessarily incomplete introduction.

It should whet your appetite for more information and explanation

about the fascinating world of religion and spirituality.

The major part of this exhibition was created by the Global Ethic Foundation (GEF) in Tübingen (Germany). It is based on a lifetime research by Professor Hans Küng, one of the most outstanding theologians of our times.

For the purpose of showing this exhibition in Malaysia some modifications have been made and posters on Indigenous Spirituality, Sikhism and the Bahá’i Faith have been added by us in close cooperation with Malaysian religious experts and Professor Hans Küng.

The original exhibition had been shown at the United Nations

and International Monetary Fund headquarters in New York, other international organizations and at many places all over the world. Everywhere it has won unanimous praise.

The Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation (KAF) and the Malaysian Interfaith Network (MIN) are honoured to show this exhibition in Malaysia and elsewhere.
