Global Media Forum 2025 – “AI Disinformation & Countermeasures in Europe and Africa"

An interactive workshop providing journalists with knowledge of how to engage with AI and disinformation

From the 7th to 8th of July 2025, KAS Media Africa will convene the Global Media Forum 2025 in Bonn, Germany, dealing with the dangers of disinformation and AI. In the format of an interactive workshop, attendees are offered presentations, best practice examples and exercises. They will leave equipped with practical tools, policy insights, and a roadmap for fostering digital resilience in the age of AI disinformation.

Dialogue Programme to Berlin and Brussels for independent Press Councils from Sub-Saharan Africa

KAS Media Africa aims to strengthen African independent press councils by hosting a dialogue program to share experiences and knowledge from Europe.

The Dialogue Program for Independent Press Councils from Sub-Saharan Africa will take place from the 2nd to 6th of June 2025, in Berlin and Brussels. The program will bring together stakeholders from Africa and Europe to discuss the fight against disinformation and fake news. The program will provide a platform to exchange valuable insights and experiences, building on the recent creation of the Pan-African Network of Independent Media Councils in Africa (NIMCA).

Reporter Slam Africa 2025

The most entertaining live format for journalists is coming to Africa again. Our second edition of the Reporter Slam will take place this year in Lagos, Nigeria.

On 22 May, Lagos, Nigeria, will be the stage for Reporter Slam Africa 2025. Six Journalists from Sub-Saharan Africa will compete in a lively showdown, offering the audience a behind-the-scenes glimpse into their work as journalists. The slammers are challenged to present their stories in a unique and creative way. The journalist whose story appeals the most to the public will be named the Slammer of 2025!

Bringing Journalism to Life: Exploring Truth and Combating Disinformation and AI in Journalism

KAS Media Africa is proud to present the launch of an innovative journalistic comic book “Currents of Truth”, that blends investigative journalism with dynamic storytelling. Written by Ryan Pedro and illustrated by Careshia Esperanza, this graphic novel follows a young journalist’s quest to expose corruption and fight disinformation in an AI-driven world.

Moreover, local news, if presented professionally, can be elevated to national level and sometimes, even make international headlines. Many local journalists struggle daily with breaking international news down to a local level.

Fin janvier, KAS Media Africa a organisé une conférence sur le journalisme de santé en Afrique francophone qui a réuni 17 participants à Dakar, au Sénégal. Intitulée "Reportage à l'époque de Covid et au-delà", la conférence a attiré des participants de 13 pays, dont le Burkina Faso, la République centrafricaine et le Nigeria.

The First of Its Kind

In 2021, KAS Media Africa based in Johannesburg, South Africa, came together with Debunk Media, Nairobi, Kenya and the Premium Times Centre for Investigative Journalism (PTCIJ) in Abuja, Nigeria to create a continental exchange programme for journalists. The first edition of this programme immersed two journalists, Maxine Danso from Ghana, and Lilian Mutinda from Kenya, in the newsrooms and culture of their hosts for a month respectively.

Political parties have suffered during the pandemic, just as society as a whole has. There is a serious lack of programmatic approaches and young people who are getting involved will do so in civil society but not necessarily in parties. These and other challenges of party work in Africa were discussed at the high-level 10th Election Bridge with politicians from 15 different countries on the African continent, anglophone, francophone and lusophone.

The publication pays tribute to the important role that journalism played and still plays in the region.

In 13 chapters the authors look at the role of Asian journalists in East Africa, and the important part that photo journalism and cartoonists play.

Experts put political speech writing under microscope

From the terraces of Aristotle’s rhetoric of persuasion in speech writing and other examples, the event proved that this subject is shaped by the political environment.

KAS Media Africa in October hosted a conference on political speech writing. The participants - speech writers, academics and communicators from seven countries - used the event to share insights, exchange notes and network.

12th Edition of Radio Days Africa

Audio journalism remains a powerful and trusted source

The Wits Radio Academy at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, hosted the 12th online edition of Radio Days Africa in July. This year’s edition, themed “Audio Amplified” focused on the growth of audio consumption in a multi-platform broadcasting environment amid Covid-19. #RDA2021, held from the 5th to the 16th of July, featured 20 engaging sessions with over 60 influential radio professionals and personalities. This year's event was attended by almost 2,500 people from across Africa and abroad.

Ce sont en tout quatorze communicateurs politiques qui se sont réunis à Grand-Bassam, en Côte d'Ivoire, pour un atelier de trois jours afin de discuter de stratégies de communication, de partager des expériences, de créer un réseau et développer leurs carnet d'adresses.

KAS Media Africa a réuni 20 éditeurs, rédacteurs en chef et autres journalistes de haut niveau à Grand-Bassam, en Côte d'Ivoire, fin novembre, pour discuter du journalisme entrepreneurial et des modèles d'entreprise. La plupart des participants venaient de pays francophones : du Burkina Faso au Mali.
