On October 22, the Centro de Pensamiento Estratégico Internacional (Cepei) and Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) New York Office co-organized a lunch event previewing their latest policy brief, "The race for the next UN Secretary-General: Regional aspirations and global realities." Looking ahead to the selection of the next Secretary-General in 2027, they assessed the prospects for a Secretary-General from Latin America and the Caribbean and explored the interplay between regional aspirations and global power dynamics.

On 4 June 2025, KAS New York hosted the second part of the workshop series on bridging New York and DC for strengthened development financing and multilateralism in collaboration with the KAS USA Office. On the occasion of the 2025 United Nations ECOSOC Partnership Forum, the International Organisation of Employers (IOE) and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) New York Office convened a hybrid breakfast meeting on, “Advancing SDG 8 Through Multilateral Partnerships”. The event facilitated an interactive multistakeholder dialogue on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI), skills development and job creation, emphasizing the importance of multilateral partnerships with the UN, private sector, employers and civil society to foster sustainable economic development.

Shrinking Safe Haven for War Criminals: Prosecuting International Crimes against Ukrainian Children

The invasion of Ukraine will enter its fourth year in 2025, leading to an increased number of displaced individuals. On March 17, 2023, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova, the Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights. They are both accused of committing the war crime of unlawfully deporting children and unlawfully transferring them from occupied areas of Ukraine to the Russian Federation.

UNGA Resolution on the Human Right to a Clean, Healthy and Sustainable Environment

Following the adoption of Resolution A/76L.75 "the right to access a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment as a universal human right" by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), the International Organisations of Employers (IOE) and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) developed a joint paper: “UNGA Resolution on the Human Right to a Clean, Healthy and Sustainable Environment - Legal and Practical Considerations for Employers”. This paper elaborates on the new expectations from the UNGA resolution, including its legal and practical implications, and offers an outlook on the way forward for employers.
