Details

The number of fake news and reports maliciously put together to cause conflicts in the society has become an issue of concern, and journalists shall be sensitized to take their duty to check the veracity of news items before publishing very seriously, as a wrong reportage can destabilize the society especially in the period of elections, and any corrections done afterwards may be able to stop or reverse the violent conflicts that arose out of the reportage. The social media engagement of media practitioners shall also be a focal point, as this is where an army of unprofessional but passionate Nigeria engage in journalistic activities without any fear of implication of their actions. KAS shall invite the journalists and ensure that senior journalists with at least the position of an editor train these journalists. A trainer from civil society organizations as well as an academic will also be part of the group of trainers at this 2-day training.
