Still, the question of Germany's role as not only an economical, but also a potential emerging security and foreign policy “power house”, has become increasingly evident during the last couple of years. With an increasingly aggressive Russia, an even more assertive China and a United States in the process of shifting its focus towards Asia, the next German government will face a complicated geopolitical landscape. One thing is certain: change will come. The question is: how will Germany handle it?

However, the rate of change currently underway is insufficient to avert the worst effects of climate change, and we cannot afford to wait for unproven technologies to mature. But we do not only need rapid adaptation in innovation in technology, but also in policy, business models, consumption or finance mechanisms.
