President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo graced the opening on the conference on Longevity, Public Health and Policy that included a policy forum on migration and the health, wellness and retirement industry organized by the Asian Institute of Management Policy Center and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.

The President expressed her gratitude for bringing up this issues that are crucial for the future of the country. Many Filipino doctors and nurses work abroad, while the country intends to improve its health system to build up a prosperous wellness industry and to develop a retirement industry that would offer services to older people from Asia, especially Japan, Korea and China, but also to Europeans and Americans.

The policy forum stressed the need of rethinking migration policies and concrete development plans for supporting the mentioned industries.
