Less than 20 months into its four-year term, Kuwait’s National Assembly was dissolved on August 2nd. Thus ended a contentious legislative period characterized by the resignation of three governments and the failure to pass a budget for the 2022-2023 fiscal year and a law to raise the country’s debt ceiling. Ahead of Kuwait's next parliamentary elections on September 29th, this policy report explores the roots of Kuwait's current political crisis and prospects for cooperation between the government and the forthcoming legislature in the passage of much-needed fiscal legislation.

Im Rahmen ihres jährlichen Programms zur politischen Bildung veranstaltete die Youth Pioneer Society (YPS) am 6. Juni 2022 einen Workshop über soziales Engagement in Bahrain. Ziel des Workshops war es, die verschiedenen Formen zu erörtern, mit denen Menschen in ihrem Umfeld Einfluss nehmen können. Außerdem wurden die unterschiedlichen Bereiche herausgearbeitet, in denen eine Einflussnahme erfolgen kann.

Am 16. Mai organisierte der Fachbereich Philosophie des College of Arts der Universität Kuwait zusammen mit dem Regionalprogramm Golf-Staaten eine eintägige Konferenz in Kuwait über die Auswirkungen sozialer Medien auf die Freiheit, Identität, Kultur, Psychologie und den politischen Aktivismus der Menschen. An der Konferenz nahmen Dutzende von Studenten und Fakultätsmitgliedern teil, und die Medien in Kuwait berichteten ausführlich darüber.
