Decision-Making Processes in Constitutional Courts and Councils

With the worldwide development and consolidation of constitutional review procedures, constitutional courts are increasingly confronted with highly political and controversial questions. In this regard, the quality of judicial decision-making processes plays an important role in preventing political polarization and rendering decisions in accordance to the constitution.

As part of the yearly constitutional dialogue, The Rule of Law Programme Middle East/North Africa is organizing an international expert meeting on “Decision-Making Processes in Constitutional Courts and Councils – Comparative Perspectives”, that will take place on November 19th-20th in Beirut, Lebanon. The meeting will gather constitutional court judges and respected constitutional law scholars from the MENA region and Europe, to serve as a forum for comparative exchange of expertise among peers. The event will focus on different legal traditions , potential challenges and best practices for effective, neutral and non-partisan internal decision-making processes at constitutional courts and councils.
